TERMS OF SERVICE

Please note that lessons cannot go ahead without explicit agreement
of signing these terms.

Lessons are offered in 15, 30, 45, and 60-minute durations. Over time, lesson durations may need to be extended, and EEPT will inform you when this becomes necessary. Please note that shorter lessons can be counterproductive as students advance.
For home/online lessons, please ensure you are ready to begin promptly. Lesson time should not be used to find materials, and your teacher may not have spares.
If your teacher is delayed due to traffic, they will compensate for lost time, although it may not be possible immediately.
For studio lessons, please arrive on time with all materials required. There is no waiting area, so please wait outside to avoid disturbing other lessons. Lessons will not be extended to cover late arrivals.
Students must be collected promptly to avoid disrupting subsequent lessons. A charge at the lesson rate will apply for students collected 10 minutes late or more.
Teachers are assigned based on location and availability. Continuity with the same teacher is aimed for but cannot be guaranteed due to schedule and staffing changes.
TERMLY RECITALS

EEPT offers twice yearly recitals for students. Attendance is encouraged to perform and/or watch, but is not mandatory. Both students/parents can attend free of charge.

Students receive 37–40 lessons per academic year, with the total cost divided into 12 equal monthly payments. This ensures a consistent monthly payment regardless of the number of lessons.
Payments are due on the 1st day of each month. Invoices are emailed, and payments are processed by GoCardless. Cash and cheques are not accepted.
A late fee of £12 (inc VAT) is applied automatically 7 days after a missed payment.

*Home lessons incur an additional £5.40 per lesson, or £18.00 monthly for travel

Emily Eccles Piano Tuition reserves the right to amend prices with a minimum of 28 days notice.

Extra lessons are available during school holidays at £44.40 inc VAT per hour plus a £5.40 inc VAT home lesson travel fee.
These will be held depending on teacher availability and charged via GoCardless on top of your monthly fee.

Digital pianos are available to hire. Maintenance and repair costs for damages are the responsibility of the hiring family.
Monthly hire costs: £20 - £30 (inc VAT), depending on the model.

Regular attendance is necessary for student progress, interest and engagement. Enrolment implies a commitment to ALL lessons in the subscription plan on your mutually agreed time/day.
We DO NOT offer refunds for missed lessons.
We require 48 hours to reschedule a lesson with a maximum of two rescheduled lessons per term. Any other cancelled lessons will be forfeit.
Make-up lessons will not be offered in July. Lessons cancelled in July will be forfeited.
Rescheduling may require attending lessons at the teacher’s home or online, depending on availability.
Do not attend a lesson or allow home visits if you are ill. Teachers reserve the right to refuse to teach if they deem a student unfit due to illness. No refund or rescheduled lesson will be offered in this instance.
If a teacher cannot attend, lessons will be rescheduled. If a suitable time cannot be agreed upon, a refund for the lesson and travel fee will be provided at the end of the academic year.
Rescheduled lessons cannot be carried over into the next academic year.

We operate an open-door policy; therefore, parents/guardians may observe lessons silently, though students often perform better without their presence.
Parents/guardians should support their child’s learning and practice at home by tracking practice/progress.
We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of abuse towards teachers to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all. In the event this should take place, lessons will immediately cease with no refund offered.

Students will follow a mutually agreed progress plan which is reviewed each term.
Parents/guardians/students are welcome to contact Emily regarding progress. If any concerns arise, please notify Emily directly, not the teacher, to avoid delays in subsequent lessons.

Students must have an instrument before starting lessons. Contact us for advice on purchasing or to hire one of our digital pianos.
Acoustic Pianos: Must be well maintained and tuned every 6 months.
Digital Pianos: Must be full-sized (88 keys), fully weighted, with a sustain pedal.
Keyboards: Absolute beginners only as they hinder progression.
Piano Bench: Height adjustable. Contact us for assistance in finding the right bench.
Additional materials - a foot stool or pedal extender may be recommended.

Please provide one calendar month's written notice via email to our admin team. However, for cancellations in June and July, a two-month written notice is required. If you cancel midway through the year, your final bill will be sent to you via email.
Students may be dismissed at any time for consecutive missed payments, lack of practice, disinterest, or disruptive behaviour.
